Horizon’s looking for a few great interns

Horizon is looking for thinkers, doers, dreamers, makers, planners, crafters and risk takers. If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (associates or bachelors) and are interested in a paid, hands-on experience in the media industry, then we'd like to hear from you.

Our internship program is recognized as the best in the industry. You'll learn about all aspects of our business, and you'll have a great time along the way.

Good question! Professionals in this industry come from various backgrounds, but at least one thing they have in common is their passion for media. They love that media is the intersection of strategy, technology, analytics, innovation and creativity.

Why Horizon?

In 1989, CEO and President Bill Koenigsberg founded Horizon Media with the vision of creating a workplace where Business is Personal. 32 years later, the agency continues to grow without sacrificing that original vision; Horizon is a place full of great ideas and talented people. How do you know that an agency is happy, healthy, and driving growth in the all the right ways? When you’re recognized year in and year out with awards that honor your incredible culture. We’ve also created an environment where our people are free to invent, explore, share and excel.

What You’ll Get... As An Intern

An internship at Horizon is not coffee runs and photocopies. Here, we get work done and like to have fun. An internship at Horizon is an opportunity to get involved in real work with real results.

Our Summer Internship Program is a 9-week long, paid, full-time (40 hours/week) immersive experience that exposes interns to all facets of the media industry. Interns will develop personal and professional skills, make lasting connections, collaborate with each other and learn from the best in the industry. In addition to daily work within your department, interns participate in:

Media 101 Sessions These weekly sessions provide insight into our different departments. Interns will develop a media plan for one of our clients

Mentorship Program Employees guide interns throughout their summer.  From assistance with projects to general advice, the mentors are there to help

Senior Leaders Series Senior executives speak to interns about their past and current career experiences and provide valuable advice

Is this a paid internship?

Is this a rotational internship or will I be placed with one team for the duration of the internship?

You will be placed on one team for the duration of the internship. However, there will be opportunities for you to shadow other departments of interest.

What do I need to prepare?

Familiarize yourself with our website, social media accounts and articles written in the trades. Ensure your resume reflects all relevant coursework taken, internship/work experience and extracurricular activities. Set up time for a mock interview with the Office of Career Services at your school. Review the internship openings and decide which position(s) you are interested in.

Can I apply to more than one role?

Yes, but no more than two.

How long does the program last?

Our internship program is 9 weeks.

Will I receive college credit?

If your college/university deems you eligible to receive college credit for your internship, then yes.

How many hours do I need to work per week?

40 hours.

How many internship positions are available?

The number of open positions vary from year to year.

When will I find out if I was selected?

You will know if you made it to the 1st round by March, the 2nd round by mid-April and the final offer stage by May 2022.

What is the hiring process, and what can I expect?

The hiring process can vary depending on the department(s) you are interviewing for. However, please be prepared for a phone screen as well as a virtual video interview.

Will the Internship be in-person or remote?

2022’s program will be Hybrid, meaning unless your discipline preference is NeXus - IT Helpdesk, you can be 100% remote for the entire duration of the internship if you so choose.

What does a Hybrid Internship mean?

As we do not know what the state of COVID or office returns will be for Summer 2022, all internship orientation, trainings and required sessions will be done virtually. That said, if Horizon's physical office space re-opens for the summer, anyone interning from a commutable distance to either our NY or LA office is welcome to work from the office space as able and desired. If offices do re-open, some teams may encourage in-office cohort days.

Do I have to live in NY or LA during the program?

If interning with our NYC office, you can work remotely from any state (with exception to Washington, D.C.) for the duration of the 9-week program. If interning with our LA office, you can work remotely from anywhere within the state of California.
